Electronic speed change and mechanical speed change
Electronic transmission relies on a powerful motor to complete the work that is usually done by wire tubes and connecting rods. It is faster and more precise than mechanical speed change. The dispute between these two shifting methods has basically ceased. The high-end market uses electronic shifting, and more entry-level bicycles choose mechanical shifting due to cost-effective reasons.

Disc brakes and wheel brakes
In the past, this part will be longer. Disc brakes are better than other types of brakes and are now standard on road bikes. Wheel brakes can still be found on the cheapest road bikes, but riders generally agree that disc brakes are the best.

Bike fit
You can’t walk in a low squat with your knees bent at 90 degrees, can you? Adjusting the bicycle is the key to avoiding this riding position. To make the bicycle fit you is actually to put the handlebars and seat on the right position relative to the pedals, so that you can have the best riding performance. Getting a professional to debug the bike is probably the most important thing you can do, which can make riding faster and more fun.

Bike shorts
The road bike seat is specially designed to match the suede (pad) on the bike shorts to ensure your (and soft tissue) comfort as much as possible. Strap shorts are a better choice for most people because the straps can help hold the suede in place. But some people choose to wear standard shorts for convenience.

Cycling shoes and pedals
Most road riders prefer so-called “self-locking” pedals (explaining the name is time-consuming), because cycling shoes can snap into this special pedal. This maximizes power transmission and comfort.
