The first step in allowing your children to enjoy family fun is to make sure they can ride on their own safely. A few selected items will make your early adventures and your children more enjoyable. This is the essential equipment we recommend to make your child’s riding safer, happier and more confident.
A children’s bicycle
This seems obvious, but every day we see children struggling to ride small adult bicycles. A children’s bicycle must be adapted to the size and needs of younger riders from the very beginning. But not all children’s bicycles have the same manufacturing conditions.
Children’s bicycle helmet
A good bicycle helmet is essential. They have a lifespan and should be replaced if a collision occurs. Therefore, we do not recommend the use of second-hand helmets. The ideal way to find the right children’s bicycle helmet is to go to your local bicycle store.
Car lights
Just like driving your car, you should use bicycle lights every time you go out, day and night. The purpose of the daytime riding lights is to help the rider to be clearly distinguishable in front of the car driver. In addition to helmets, car lights are also a must-have safety accessory for all riders.
A cycling backpack
Like all things a parent has to do, the key to keeping your child riding without interruption is preparation. A backpack with a few essentials will make everyone happy. What we recommend to pack in a cycling backpack:
– water
-Biscuits/pretzels
– band Aid
-Sunscreen
-Change of clothes
– hat
– mobile phone
-Multi-purpose tool and tyre tying kit
-Books (if using a pull trailer)
